Kentwood Junior Varsity finishes undefeated

Future Conks: The Kentwood JV Team finished off the year with a shutout, blanking the Kentlake Falcons 35-0 to finish the year as a perfect 9-0. For the juniors on the JV, they have been undefeated the past three years, and the sophomores only have one loss on their records. Ronnie Flowers started the scoring for the Conks again, scampering his way to yet another touchdown. A.C. Songco completed a long pass to Anthony Cogswell, who was tackled on the 1 yard line. Anthony then plunged in from a yard out two plays later to score another touchdown for the Conks. Tristan Askew picked up a short punt then took it to the house against the disorganized punt Team. Then to start the 2nd Half, Askew returned the only KL kickoff for a touchdown to mark his 4th TD return of the year. Jacob Dela-Cruz finished the scoring as he blazed by the Kentlake defense 60 yards untouched for the Conquerors last touchdown of the year. This proved to be a nice finish to a strong year by the JV, who look to make a successful jump to the Varsity next year. Thanks to all of the parents who supported us in so many ways, and to the players who played their hearts out in every game.

Freshman Game 8 - Great Finish to the Season

Future Conks: KW Freshmen finish the season strong by beating a good Kentlake team 14-0.The first half was a slug-fest, with neither team able to find the end-zone. The defense was the story, keyed by big plays like a QB sack by Michael Christian and a big hit by Casey Quinn causing a fumble that was recovered by John Schmidt. Shane Green also played well on the defensive side of the ball recovering a fumble and intercepting a pass. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie. The second half started out slow, but the Conk's caught fire sparked by Jarred Fuller recovered a KL fumble that led to KW's first touch-down drive capped off by a 2 yd run by Shane Green. The PAT was a fake and Morgan Hasegawa threw a bullet to Sam Logar for the 2 pt conversion. KW defense continued to keep KL bottled up. Led by players like Will Christopher reeking havoc in the KL back field and a pass interception by Steel Warner. KW's last offensive drive of the season was a culmination of all their hardwork and practice. Led by the strong blocking of the offensive line (Avery Kain, Dalton Blackmore, Taylor Kempf, Daniel Park, Quijaan Lawson, Zach Zorbist, and Jake Jones), some great down-field blocking by our recievers (Morgan Hasegawa, Kyler Martin, Casey Quinn, Anthony Hagstrom, and Michael Soliem) the strong running of Jarred Fuller and Mikel Everett, And a 25 yd pass completion from Shane Green to Michael Christian. Kentlake's last chance ended when Charlandez Powell swiped the ball from the KL QB's hand and Max Somes recovered the fumble which allowed KW to run out the clock. The Kentwood Freshmen end the season 5-3 (or 4-2 if you don't count the game played against the Orting JV team). More important than the record was the fact that the team improved each and every week.
